'Should be lawyering up': Ex- aide warns Trump his 'jaw-dropping' week will haunt him
Security expert and former Trump administration official Miles Taylor issued his former boss a piece of advice on Wednesday following “an explosion of corruption allegations” hurled against the president and his administration in just the past few days: “They should be lawyering up.”
“For an administration that likes to throw around the word ‘treason,’ it sure seems like they’re becoming intimately familiar with the definition,” Taylor wrote in an analysis published Wednesday on his Substack, Defiance News.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that President Donald Trump’s Justice Department had produced “essentially zero evidence” of a crime in its criminal probe into Federal Reserve Chair and Trump rival Jerome Powell.
On Wednesday, evidence was revealed that Trump’s allegedly unlawful mishandling of classified documents may have been motivated by his “business interests.” And also on Wednesday, reports of “mysterious trading patterns” raised suspicions of potential insider trading within Trump’s orbit, the details of which Taylor called “jaw dropping.”
The allegations, Taylor argued, were “creating a paper trail” that not only may plague Trump through the remainder of his term, but follow him well after he leaves the White House. Taylor also issued a "personal appeal to Trump’s underlings.”
“We’re only halfway through this week, and it’s already clear to me that you’re in trouble. At least some of you are,” Taylor wrote, addressing Trump officials directly.
“From these three news stories alone, there’s a paper trail that may well lead directly to your doorstep one of these days. The president is going to face some serious criminal investigations in the years to come. The only question is whether your name appears on the right side of it.”
