A Utah police spokesperson confirmed Dakota’s call on Tuesday (March 24) to NBC News.
The spokesperson could not provide further details due to the open investigation, nor share the exact dates, but confirmed that the department is reviewing “multiple videos” connected to the alleged event.
At this time, they only have Dakota‘s report of the alleged incident, and have not gotten word back from Taylor, although they’ve talked to her legal team.
The police spokesperson also told NBC News that they want the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives reality TV star to either submit a written statement or come in for an in-person interview about the alleged incident.
Dakota first talked to one police department in Utah (Draper), but they told him it’s not their case to handle because the incident didn’t happen in their area. So they sent him to the correct police department (West Jordan).
A separate domestic violence investigation involving the two was called in on February 24 and 25 to Draper police.
Salt Lake County District Attorney Sam Gill shared a statement via NBC News, confirming his office “requested all the investigative material to screen the most recent allegations for charges” and said his office was looking into a case submitted by Draper police.
“We made the request because of the potential that if charges are filed, they could be enhanced due to a prior plea in abeyance to a domestic violence offense,” he added.
Taylor Frankie Paul recently spoke out after a video surfaced of a 2023 physical altercation with ex Dakota Mortensen, amid the pause of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and the cancellation of her season of The Bachelorette.
The footage is from the same 2023 case in which Taylor was arrested, and later enter a plea related to aggravated assault. She was placed on probation and the other charges were dropped, including domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse, and criminal mischief.
