Beloved Netflix Comedy Returns Next Month — After Winning 8 Emmy Awards
Three years after the show's first season, fan-favorite dark comedy Beef is returning to Netflix with new episodes in April 2026.
The show centers around two couples whose lives intersect in hilariously dark ways, sparking a conflict that can only be resolved with increasingly obscure methods. The first season focused on two strangers that got into a car accident and sparked a prolonged feud, with Steven Yeun and Ali Wong in the lead roles.
Season 2 will offer a new story, with Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Cailee Spaeny, and Charles Melton playing the two couples.
This time, the synopsis reads as follows: "A young couple witnesses an alarming fight between their boss and his wife, triggering chess moves of favors and coercion in the elitist world of a country club and its Korean billionaire owner."
While Beef's second season offers a completely separate story from the first, audiences can expect much of the same dark comedy and interwoven narratives that made the show such a breakout success.
Beef opened to huge acclaim in 2023, with critics praising the lead performances from Yeun and Wong—alongside the show's directing, writing, and editing. It had a strong performance at the Primetime Emmy Awards, including a victory in Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and awards for both lead actors.
The show also won every category it was nominated in at the Golden Globes, including Best Limited or Anthology Series or Television Film.
As a result, Beef is one of Netflix's most anticipated releases this year, with experts already predicting that it could repeat its awards success if the second season lives up to the acclaim of the first. With four major Hollywood stars in the lead roles, it will likely also be a contender in the acting categories.
"Almost everything [is different],” Carey Mulligan teased to Variety about the show's second season. "But it’s still [creator Lee Sung Jin] being brilliant. It’s a completely new story and if I say anything else then a laser beam will appear on my head. But it’s very exciting.”
Beef's second season will release on Netflix worldwide on April 16, 2026.
