'Reacher' Star Alan Ritchson’s Neighbor Brawl: What We Know So Far
Reacher star Alan Ritchson has been at the center of a barrage of reports about his fight with a neighbor. With so many headlines and the videos of the violent altercation still spreading online, it is easy to lose track of the full story. Here is what we now know about what actually happened.
What Happened in Alan Ritchson’s Neighbor Brawl
On Sunday, March 22, 2026, TMZ first published a video of Alan Ritchson striking his doubled-over neighbor four times. From the start, it was clear that the video only showed part of what happened as the brawl was ongoing when the footage began. The outlet also reported that the neighbor who was involved, Ronnie Taylor, had confronted Ritchson for speeding through the neighborhood on a motorcycle and revving his engine. At that time, TMZ spoke to law enforcement sources who confirmed the incident was being investigated.
The next day, on Monday, Richson's side of the story surfaced for the first time. Sources close to the actor told TMZ that he didn't instigate the confrontation. Instead, he was riding his motorcycle when Taylor stepped into the street to confront him and began the physicality by pushing Ritchson twice. The sources said that the combined pushes caused the actor to fall, crash his motorcycle, and suffer injuries. They also said Ritchson initially resisted being provoked into a brawl and only struck Taylor after the second push.
That same day, Taylor appeared on video describing the confrontation and resulting violence. While he admitted to pushing Ritchson twice, he stated he only did so because the actor was coming towards him on his bike. Taylor also stated that Ritchson "kicked the crap out of me."

On Tuesday, there were several important updates on the situation. First, Ritchson appeared to address the situation publicly for the first time in an Instagram post. The actor simply posted an image of the following words: “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake. -Napoleon Bonaparte.”
Later that day, TMZ released new footage of the confrontation and brawl that was taken from a bodycam the Reacher actor was wearing. It showed the actor riding his motorcycle when Taylor stepped out into the street to block his path. The new video showed a heated argument between the two men and a short physical altercation, while it also appeared to confirm that Ritchson fell after being pushed.

The final update on the situation to date came when it was reported that police had closed the investigation into the fight, calling Ritchson's actions self-defense. The Hollywood Reporter quoted a statement that police Captain Steven Pepin gave to them about the reasoning for the decision. “After reviewing available evidence, including video footage and witness statements, authorities determined that no criminal charges will be pursued. Mr. Ritchson’s actions were found to be in self-defense.”
The Captain also told the outlet that the authorities had considered charging Taylor with reckless endangerment, but Ritchson declined to pursue any charges. “Although a potential reckless endangerment charge was considered, Mr. Ritchson declined to pursue charges. With the agreement of the District Attorney’s Office, the case is now closed, and no further action will be taken.”
The police closing the case appears to bring the matter to a close for now, unless either Ritchson or Taylor decides to speak out publicly.
