Qatar postpones Shakira concert over Israel-US-Iran war
Qatar has postponed Shakira’s Doha concert as the Israel-US-Iran war raises regional security concerns and disrupts major entertainment events across the Gulf.
Qatar’s tourism authority said on Tuesday that Shakira’s concert scheduled for April 1 in Doha has been postponed because of the “current regional situation.”
A separate music festival in Abu Dhabi, where Shakira had also been set to perform, was likewise delayed, with organizers saying existing tickets would remain valid for the rescheduled date later this year.
Shakira, the Colombian singer, songwriter and performer, was due to headline one of the Gulf’s biggest live music events before the latest wave of regional instability disrupted entertainment plans.
Despite the postponement, other concerts in Qatar remain on the calendar, including performances by Hans Zimmer on April 10 and John Legend on April 17.
The move comes as the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States continues to affect travel, public events and security calculations across the wider Middle East.
Major concerts and festivals across the Gulf are often closely tied to tourism and international travel, making them especially vulnerable to sudden changes in regional security conditions.
The postponement also reflects wider concern among organizers and governments as missile and drone threats have increased uncertainty across parts of the region in recent weeks.
For now, Shakira’s Doha performance has been delayed rather than canceled, but the decision shows how quickly regional tensions are reshaping cultural events across the Gulf.
