Man remanded over drugs possession after Larnaca arrest
Police arrested a 34-year-old man in Larnaca on Tuesday night in connection with a drugs case, seizing cocaine and cannabis resin. A second man was also arrested during the same operation in relation to a theft case.
The 34-year-old was brought before the Larnaca court on Wednesday, which issued an eight-day remand order.
During the same operation, a 31-year-old man was also identified and arrested, as he was wanted under an outstanding court warrant in connection with a theft committed in Nicosia.
Police said the arrest took place at around 11.40pm on Tuesday, when members of the drug squad Ykan stopped the 34-year-old for a check. A search of a bag he was carrying uncovered 359 grams of cocaine and two grams of cannabis resin, along with two precision scales, €1,115 in cash and two mobile phones, all of which were seized.
The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Officers added that a few minutes after stopping the 34-year-old, they also stopped the 31-year-old at the same location.
A check of his details revealed an outstanding arrest warrant linked to a case of theft and malicious damage committed recently in Nicosia.
He, too, was subsequently arrested and remanded in custody.
Police said the theft took place between March 14 and 15, 2026, when unknown persons stole two air-conditioning units from a shop in Nicosia.
