Pan American athletes delivered an outstanding performance at the Spanish Para Badminton International 2026 II, held in Vitoria-Gasteiz, securing a total of 26 medals (6 gold, 7 silver and 13 bronze). The results highlight the region’s growing competitiveness against the world’s elite and reaffirm the steady development of para badminton across the Americas.
Brazil Claims Gold in Women’s Doubles SL3-SU5
Brazil celebrated gold in the Women’s Doubles SL3–SU5 event through Ana Coutinho and Edwarda de Oliveira, who demonstrated strong chemistry and consistency throughout the tournament. After advancing from the group stage with key victories, the Brazilian pair defeated teammates Diana Rojas (PER) and Oksana Kozyna (UKR) in the semifinals, before securing the title with a dominant performance in the final.
Additional bronze medals in the event were earned by Mikaela Almeida / Kauana Michelson (BRA) and Diana Rojas / Oksana Kozyna (PER/UKR), completing a strong showing for Pan American players.
Miles Continues on the Top of Men’s Singles SH6
The Men’s Singles SH6 event featured an all-Pan American final between World Champion Miles Krajewski (USA) and Vitor Tavares (BRA). Both players advanced with solid performances, defeating strong international opponents along the way. In the final, Krajewski controlled the match to win in straight games 21–17, 21–15, claiming the gold medal.
Peru Stands Out with Two Gold Medals
Peru emerged as one of the standout nations of the tournament, winning gold in both Mixed Doubles SH6 and Women’s Singles SH6.
In Mixed Doubles, Nilton Quispe and Giuliana Poveda advanced confidently through the draw, defeating pairs from multiple regions. In the final, they faced England’s Jack Shephard / Rachel Choong in a tightly contested match, ultimately securing victory in three games to claim the gold medal.
Poveda also dominated the Women’s Singles SH6 event, delivering a commanding performance throughout the tournament. She reached the final without dropping momentum and defeated Jayci Simon (USA) in straight games 21–7, 21–14 to secure her second gold medal.
Peru also added a bronze medal in Mixed Doubles through Jesús Salva and Rubí Fernández, further contributing to the region’s success
Gold for Jayci Simon in Women’s Doubles SH6
In Women’s Doubles SH6, Jayci Simon (USA) and Yasmina Eissa (EGY) captured gold after a strong campaign. The pair advanced through the group stage and semifinals with convincing wins before facing Cai Y. L. / Wu Y. Y. (TPE) in the final.
After dropping the opening game, Simon and Eissa responded with determination to complete a comeback victory 16–21, 21–16, 21–11, securing the title.
