James Marsden Admits to Lying About 'Avengers: Doomsday' Role, Apologizes on 'Kimmel' (Video)
James Marsden knows he was lying about Avengers: Doomsday during his last appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and now he’s apologizing!
The 52-year-old actor opened up about his return to playing Cyclops while appearing on the show on Monday (March 23) in Hollywood.
James talked about playing “coy” during his last Kimmel appearance, when he denied he’d be in Doomsday.
“I did. I lied. I was lying. I was being coy,” James said. “I was told by Marvel, ‘You can’t say anything.’ And I was like, ‘What if I just say I’m not in it?’ They were like, ‘That’s fine.’”
He added, “And then there was all this litigation and stuff going on, and I was like, ‘I don’t want to get in trouble.’ So I just lied. I’m sorry. I am in it. Yeah. I’m in Avengers: Doomsday. I’m back as Cyclops.”
Check out the 27 actors who have been confirmed to be in the cast. The film is set to be released in theaters on December 18, 2026.
You can next see James in season two of the Apple TV series Your Friends and Neighbors, which will premiere on April 3 on the streaming service. He’s also featured in season two of Hulu’s Paradise, despite being killed off in season one.
