Bulova's Cult-Favorite Computron Watch Is Now Over $150 Off on Amazon

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why We Love This Deal

If you’re a Ray Donovan fan (or just appreciate retro watches), you’re likely familiar with Bulova’s iconic Computron watch. Originally launched in the ‘70s, the Computron looks like a piece of sci-fi tech, and still feels ahead of its time. This design has echoed across pop culture as well, from similarly-named characters like Computron in Transformers to other retro-futuristic icons.

The Bulova Computron is a lot more accessible these days, especially since it’s down to $265 from its original $425 asking price ahead of Amazon's Big Spring Sale. This deal is for the iconic gold watch with the red LED display, but the silver watch is also on sale for $229 if that’s what you prefer.

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Movement: Quartz digital movement
  • Build: Stainless steel case and bracelet
  • Display: LED with time, day, and date
  • Water Resistance: 30 meters

The Computron is less about traditional watch features and style, and more about capturing a retro-futuristic look, with a slanted case and LED display that screams ‘70s. It still covers the basics, though, with day/date, dual time zones, and 12/24-hour time, but it’s ultimately a statement piece, and one you'll be proud to own. You get 30 meters of water resistance and a single-button interface, and it’s powered by a quartz movement.

While you aren’t getting a ton of extra functionality for the price here, you’re paying for a unique and iconic conversation-starter that most watches in this price range just don’t offer. On top of that, many older Computrons are selling for $500+ on secondary markets, making them somewhat of a collector's item.

What Shoppers Are Saying

One reviewer said, “This is a watch for watch enthusiasts,” and as collectors ourselves, we'd have to agree—it's just too cool not to own. This reviewer added that, in person, it has a “beautiful vintage design and aesthetic that provides a stylish look.” Another shopper wrote, “It's a very cool retro watch that will get a ton of attention.”

While this watch leans more towards retro style and a sort of paradoxical minimalist maximalism rather than being packed with specs, it’s still practical. “It is super bright and easily readable even in daylight," another said. Despite that, you do have to press a button to see the time and date, but this reviewer also noted that “I think this quirkiness is part of its beauty.”

The Bulova Computron is available now for $265, and is a unique timepiece that both watch enthusiasts and retro gear fans can appreciate. Since this is a limited-time deal, it could end at the end of Amazon's Big Spring Sale, so grab yours while they're still marked down.
