2026 Masters Provincial Championship Recap

2026 CURLSASK Masters Provincial Championships Recap

Tisdale Curling Club – Feb. 26 to Mar. 1, 2026

The 2026 CURLSASK Masters Provincial Championships brought together seasoned curlers from across Saskatchewan for four days of competitive play at the Tisdale Curling Club. Teams in both the men’s and women’s divisions competed in round robin and playoff action for the chance to wear the green jacket and represent Saskatchewan at the national championships. Every team contributed to a memorable provincial event.

Men’s Teams:

  1. Bell – Skip: Gord Bell, Third: Ken Rodgers, Second: Francis Walsh, Lead: Gord Fritzler – Callie Curling Club, Regina

  2. Franko – Skip: Brent Franko, Third: LLoyd Fell, Second: Verne Anderson, Lead: Loyd Olson – Wadena Curling Club

  3. Furber – Skip: Gerry Furber, Third: Lester Willerton, Second: Dennis Abbott, Lead: Gene Bromm – Tisdale Curling Club

  4. Hartung – Skip: Jeff Hartung, Third: Gerry Adam, Second: Greg Harcourt, Lead: Raymond Nabe – Langenburg Curling Club

  5. Humble – Skip: Brian Humble, Third: Terry Hersikorn, Second: Greg Kunz, Lead: Kerry Tarasoff – Sutherland Curling Club, Saskatoon

  6. Lane – Skip: Mark Lane, Third: Dan Kennedy, Second: Mike Finney, Lead: Rod Antonichuck – Nutana Curling Club, Saskatoon

  7. Nikolejsin – Skip: Jim Nikolejsin, Third: Jaime Miller, Second: Ray Calbow, Lead: Darcy Cretin – Weyburn Curling Club

  8. Phelps – Skip: Doug Phelps, Third: Wayne Diakow, Second: Lorne Sass, Lead: Perry Hulowski – Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club

  9. Scheible – Skip: Wayne Scheible, Third: Stewart Mitchell, Second: Lorne Voinorosky, Lead: Brian Welford – Twin Rivers Curling Club, North Battleford

  10. Sunderland – Skip: Murray Sunderland, Third: Richard Choquette, Second: Rick Middleton, Lead: Jeff Slade – St Front Curling Club

Womens Teams:

  1. Campbell – Skip: June Campbell, Third: Deanne Miller-Jones, Second: Donna Ell, Lead: Sylvia Broad – Wynyard Curling Club

  2. Foster – Skip: Dianne Foster, Third: Danette Tracey, Second: Lorraine Arguin, Lead: Char Southam – Moose Jaw Curling Centre Curling Club

  3. Inglis – Skip: Cathy Inglis, Third: Joan McCusker, Second: Patsy Kuspira, Lead: Bev Fuches – Yorkton Curling Club

  4. Richards – Skip: Kenda Richards, Third: Anita Ford, Second: Mary Jo Steve, Lead: Maureen Belanger – Callie Curling Club, Regina

  5. Swiderski – Skip: Jacquie Swiderski, Third: Avis Halcro, Second: Marilyn Wourms, Lead: Cheryl Chester – Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club

Men’s Division

Team Nikolejsin from the Weyburn Curling Club delivered an impressive performance throughout the men’s competition. After going 4–0 in the round robin, they entered playoff action with strong momentum. In Page playoff games, Team Nikolejsin dropped a close 4‑3 decision to Team Hartung but rebounded in the semifinal with a 6‑4 win over Team Sunderland to return to the championship final. In the title game, Nikolejsin jumped out early and secured the 2026 Masters Men’s Provincial Championship with an 8‑1 victory over Hartung.

Congratulations to Skip Jim Nikolejsin, third Jaime Miller, second Ray Calbow, lead Darcy Cretin.

With the provincial title, Team Nikolejsin will represent Saskatchewan at the 2026 Canadian Masters Curling Championships in Grand Prairie, Alberta.

Women’s Division

In the women’s division, Team Inglis from Yorkton delivered an outstanding week of play. They went undefeated through round robin play (4–0) to advance directly to the final. In the semifinal, Team June Campbell of Wynyard earned a spot in the gold medal game with a 9‑2 win over Diane Foster’s rink. The championship final saw Team Inglis build a strong lead and hold off a late run from Campbell, finishing the game 8‑5 and claiming the 2026 Masters Women’s Provincial Championship.

Congratulations to Skip Cathy Inglis, third Joan McCusker, second Patsy Kuspira, lead Bev Fuches.

Team Inglis will also represent Saskatchewan at the 2026 Canadian Masters Curling Championships in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Congratulations to Team Nikolejsin and Team Inglis on their provincial championship wins. Both teams will carry Saskatchewan’s colours into the 2026 Canadian Masters Curling Championships (Apr. 6–11, 2026). Their performances in Tisdale highlighted the wealth of experience, strategy, and competitive spirit present in the masters curlers across the province.
