‘These people are insane’: Super-woke version of ‘Star Trek’ canceled, now William Shatner beams in
This generation of “Star Trek” won’t live long and prosper, and its bold pushing of the woke mind virus through the universe may be partly to blame.
Paramount+ has decided to pull the plug on “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” after just its second season, Variety reported.
USA Today noted: “Some on social media labeled the show ‘woke’ and mocked its diverse casting and storylines, which included the introduction of the first openly gay Klingon character.”
Outkick founder Clay Travis opined: “Imagine having to cancel a freaking Star Trek show – a show about aliens in space with tens of millions of fans who want to watch and like it – because you insisted on making it too woke. These people are insane.”

President Donald Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller called the show’s cancellation “tragic.”
“But it’s not too late for Paramount+ to save the franchise,” Miller explained. “Step 1: Reconcile with William Shatner and give him total creative control.”
Shatner, who portrayed the legendary Captain James T. Kirk on TV and films since the 1960s, is not buying into the woke argument, recalling his white character famously kissed his black lieutenant, Nichelle Nichols’ Uhura, in a 1968 episode.
“During the first airing of my Star Trek series where a kiss was objectionable; many southern stations pulled the episode & condemned the show,” Shatner said.
“Using today’s vernacular it would absolutely be called ‘woke DEI crap’ because it went against ‘norms’ of society for its time. Not a lot seems to have changed.”

He also expressed sorrow about the cancellation of “Starfleet Academy,” saying: “Star Trek exists in more than one world. It exists in the fantasy of science fiction – weird and wonderful things that play unimaginable possibilities of exploration and human endeavor. But it also exists in the fantasy of human beings, the perfection of human beings, the exploration that human beings have made since the dawn of time and the continuing exploration – physically mentally and morally.”
“It’s that aspect of Star Trek that I’ve always loved, to look at something physically that doesn’t exist now by these talented writers & designers but also to tackle the eternal human questions the agonies, the ecstasies. Star Trek should exist for a long time to come based on those truths. I for one would love to see its continuity. It’s with sorrow that I hear about the cancellation of the new Star Trek series.”

A full statement issued by CBS and Paramount indicates: “We’re incredibly proud of the ambition, passion, and creativity that went into bringing ‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ to life. The series introduced audiences to a bold new group of characters, welcomed familiar faces, and expanded the ‘Star Trek’ universe in exciting new ways.
“We’re grateful to Alex Kurtzman, Noga Landau, Gaia Violo, and the entire cast and crew who pushed storytelling boundaries in the spirit of Gene Roddenberry’s vision. We look forward to sharing the upcoming second and final season with everyone, and continuing to celebrate the cast, crew, and all that was accomplished with this series.”
