The show is being written by Teacup executive producer and writer Francisca X. Hu, and is described as an “upstairs-downstairs drama set in the high-flying equestrian town of Wellington, FL, which revolves around the messy dynamics between two rival teams and the families that lead them,” per Deadline.
The couple’s one-season docuseries Polo, which followed the teams competing at the U.S. Open Polo Championship in Wellington. The new drama series is said to be inspired by the doc, and “widening the scope of what is considered an elitist ‘sport of kings’ beyond the rich owners and players.”
The royal couple also have the movie The Wedding Date, based on Jasmine Guillory’s book, in the works, as well as a feature adaptation of Carley Fortune’s Meet Me at the Lake.
The news comes amid reports about partnership struggles and alleged tensions between the streamer and Meghan and Harry, which Netflix adamantly denied.
