Over 2,100 Children Killed or Injured in Middle East War, UNICEF Says
UNICEF has reported that more than 2,100 children have been killed or injured since the start of the war in the Middle East, highlighting the growing humanitarian crisis.
According to the report on Tuesday, 206 children have been killed in Iran, 118 in Lebanon, 4 in Israel, and 1 in Kuwait during the ongoing conflict.
UNICEF added that, on average, around 87 children per day have been killed or injured since the war began, warning that the toll is likely to rise if violence continues.
The agency also highlighted massive displacement in Iran, where about 3.2 million people have been forced from their homes, including nearly 864,000 children.
In Lebanon, more than 1 million people have been displaced, with approximately 370,000 children; nearly one-third of the displaced now living in difficult conditions, often sheltering in public buildings such as schools.
The ongoing conflict, which escalated in recent weeks, has involved airstrikes, missile attacks, and cross-border tensions, affecting multiple countries across the region.
Humanitarian organizations have warned that access to food, healthcare, and education is rapidly deteriorating, especially for children who remain the most vulnerable in conflict zones.
As violence persists, the rising number of child casualties and displaced families underscores the urgent need for a ceasefire and increased humanitarian assistance to prevent further suffering.
