The track is produced by Mike WiLL Made-It, Pluss, Donut and Khaled Rohaim, and written by Mike WiLL Made-It, RM, Pluss, Donut, Khaled Rohaim, Prince Charlez, Truebeatzz, James Essien, j-hope, Jung Kook, SUGA, John Mitchell, Derrick Milano and Pdogg.
It sees the group asserting themselves as a global force and embracing their cultural identity, as well as hitting back at negativity and doubt.
“From the Ka-Na to thе Ha, watch and learn from us / Yeah, we aliеns / If you wanna hit my house, shoes off at the door / Yeah, we aliens / The nerve on you, shameless / Show some respect, we aliens / Out of the East, the sun’s risin’ / Aliens, aliens,” Jung Kook and V announce in the chorus.
If you didn’t know, the Ka-na (가나) and ha (하) are beginning and end of Hangul, which is the Korean alphabet. The reference to the “shoes off at the door” is also likely a nod to the traditional cultural practice in South Korea and Asia at large.
Suga also addresses the haters and doubters: “Green with jealousy, those civilians / Won’t waste my breath to explain, to the stadium, gather up Why are you still worried?”
RM also asserts himself on the track, declaring: “I’m the only one who can speak English, but that is how we kill / You guys with those big eyes say / Are they for real? For real?”
J-hope also references a traditional Korean rhythmic structure and seemingly hits back at commentary on their appearance when it’s his turn: “Clap and shake it to jungmori rhythm / Oh my God, do I look too funny? / So what? Just move for me, yeah, move for me.”
