Tottenham player ratings vs Nottingham Forest – Players fail to repay fans as relegation looms

The full-time whistle has been blown in the match between Tottenham and Nottingham Forest at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur’s struggles continued at full-time, with a damaging result leaving them deep in trouble at the wrong end of the table.

Nottingham Forest secured a 3-0 win over Spurs in the relegation six-pointer between the two sides, leaving Tottenham in 17th place, while they now open a two-point gap over the Lilywhites.

West Ham United lost 2-0 in their own match with Aston Villa, a defeat that only keeps Tottenham above the dotted line.

Let us take a look at how the individual players got on.

Guglielmo VicarioThe Italian was beaten thrice today by Nottingham Forest, with little he could do to prevent either goal. 5.

Djed Spence He was used in his more natural right-back position and had the licence to push forward and join the attack. Tottenham’s threat from that side was limited, and he was hooked at half-time. 4.

Cristian Romero The Spurs captain looked to bring his front-footed style of defending, but it did little to prevent either goal. The second came from a leggy Spurs side, giving Forest too much time on the ball. 3.

Kevin Danso He made a couple of crucial interceptions in the first half to prevent Forest from taking an early lead. He also offered a threat from set plays with his long throw. In the second half, those threats were few and far between. He was later outmuscled by Awoniyi for Forest’s third 4.5.

Micky van de Ven The Dutchman was given a more conservative role at full-back in the first half. He did get into the Forest box and put in a cross, but did not pick out a Spurs player. He also collided with the advertising boards and could have hurt himself. He was subbed off at half-time. 5.

Pedro PorroWith Spence off, Porro was pushed to right-back and appeared much narrower in attack, tucking inside rather than offering width. He was caught out defensively when Neco Williams found space at the back post from Elliot Anderson’s cross. Odoi also got the better of him, with Porro looking sluggish in his defence. Tudor’s switch looked to have worked against him. 3.

Archie Gray Just like in the first half, the midfielder remained a threat in space, often picking out long balls to the forward players. He found Dominic Solanke early in the second half, but the striker could not cut the ball back. He also had a chance from the edge of the box, but his effort was blocked. 6.

Pape Matar Sarr The midfielder showed intensity and determination in the first half, winning a few balls in midfield. However, as the game went on, he became leggy and less effective. He did look to get forward when Spurs went two down. 5.

Mathys Tel He continued to be a livewire for Tottenham, just as in the first half. The Frenchman remained direct and caused Aina plenty of problems on the left, although his performance was not capped with a goal or assist. 6.5.

Dominic Solanke It was an underwhelming performance from the centre-forward, who barely affected proceedings for most of the game. He did have a fair few half-chances after Forest’s third, but it was a little too late. 4.

Richarlison His only real attempt came in the first half from a corner, where he looked to head in at the back post but sent his effort wide. In the second half, there were no chances for him before he was replaced by Randal Kolo Muani. 4.

Substitutes

Destiny Udogie – The left-back replaced Micky van de Ven, who appeared to have been taken off due to injury concerns. He offered width high up the pitch and created a good chance in the second half with a low cross for Lucas Bergvall. 5.

Lucas Bergvall – The Swede earned his first minutes after several months away as Tudor reshaped the right side of Spurs’ attack. He came close in the 75th minute after Udogie’s cross found him, but he could not keep his effort down. 5.

Randal Kolo Muani – He replaced Richarlison and moved to the left, but, like his counterpart, did not have any clear chances. 5.

Xavi Simons – The Dutchman came on to replace Mathys Tel, who went off with an injury in the second half. He slotted straight into the number 10 role. 5.

Conor Gallagher – Replaced Archie Gray. N/A.
