“If you wanna be animals / Baby, we can be animals / Eat this life ’til your heart is full / If you want, you can have it all,” they declare on the song.
“Take me into your deep / I wanna lay in your world / So what, your shadow’s a mess / I’m walkin’ with my own dirt,” Suga sings. Fans have noted that this is seemingly a reference to his “Shadow” interlude from Map of the Soul: 7, which centers around Carl Jung‘s concept of the “shadow” self.
“Six feet down in the sand / There’s creatures that made a hole / Do speak, I’m begging you, please / There’s beauty outside control,” RM pleads.
The track was produced by Diplo, Artemas, Daintree and Kevin White, and written by Diplo, Artemas, Daintree, Jesse Fink, Kevin White, RM, Kirsten Spencer and Beau Nox.
The song is about living without restraint. As a result, some fans also speculate that the song might even be a reflection on their time serving in the military, suggesting that they’ve since broken free from their required service.
