Hugh Jackman & Sutton Foster’s Marriage Plans Reportedly on Hold for Major Familial Reason
Ever since the shocking news broke about Sutton Foster and Hugh Jackman’s romance, many have wondered how their respective families have handled the change; and when they’ll walk down the aisle. Turns out, their kids are allegedly the reason they’ve held off on a wedding.
Foster and her ex-husband, Ted Griffin, adopted a daughter named Emily, born March 5, 2017. As for Jackman, he and his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness adopted two children named Oscar Maximillian, born in May 2000, and Ava Eliot, born in July 2005.
According to insiders at Star Magazine, Jackman’s kids are “incredibly protective of their mom” and “Hugh wants to be respectful of that.”
Not only that, but they’re waiting until Foster’s divorce is final and her daughter is okay with the change. “Both want their loved ones with them to celebrate, they want to be loud and proud now. They aren’t outright opposed to eloping but it isn’t either of their dream scenarios.”
So marriage is definitely on the mind, but the when of it all is still up for debate!

For those who don’t know, Jackman and Foster’s relationship allegedly began as an affair in 2022, while they were working together on The Music Man on Broadway. They had met over a decade prior, in 2008, when they saw Shrek on Broadway.
Per a bombshell November 2024 report in Us Weekly, Jackman and Foster’s alleged affair seemingly caused his divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness. “Deborra-Lee was blindsided when she found out about the affair through the run of the show,” one source alleged. “I think many people were shocked [Jackman] could do this to her.”
But in Oct 2025, the pair made their red carpet debut (and proved they’re still in love despite being quite private)!
