Xavi Simons makes plea to Tottenham fans ahead of ‘final’ vs Nottingham Forest

Xavi Simons has issued a rallying cry ahead of the relegation six-pointer against Nottingham Forest on Sunday as Tottenham Hotspur look to register their first Premier League win of 2026.

The Spurs squad has looked devoid of confidence for a while now, but things have changed over the last few days.

They will now go into the big clash on Sunday with momentum after picking up a draw against Liverpool and beating Atletico Madrid in the second leg.

Igor Tudor has said he has seen big signs of improvement in Tottenham’s last two performances, and the Croat, who was under immense pressure until last week, would hope that his players can replicate the performance they produced on Wednesday.

A player who starred in the 3-2 win over Atletico has now revealed how he and his teammates are approaching the remaining league games.

Xavi Simons insists every game is a final for Tottenham

Xavi Simons netted his first brace for Tottenham on Wednesday, thriving in his favourite number ten role, and the Dutchman will hope that he has shown enough to make the position his own for the time being.

The attacking midfielder stressed the importance of building on the momentum Spurs have, insisting that every game left is a final for the club.

Xavi told Spurs Play: “Now, every game is a final for us. Not only Sunday, but it starts on Sunday and we have to keep this momentum. I think it’s really good from tonight, and we have to bring on Sunday that energy as well. If the energy, the passion and the desire to win is there, we will win.”

Xavi urges Spurs fans to get behind the team against Forest

Spurs have struggled at home domestically since the start of 2025, but they will take confidence from the performance they produced against Atletico in front of their supporters.

Xavi admitted that the players are ‘grateful’ for the Tottenham faithful’s support and urged them to do their part to push the team on against Forest.

When asked about the role that the fans can play on Sunday, the Netherlands international responded: “We know every game that we’re playing at home, how important it is. Of course, things didn’t go the way we wanted this season, but I’m really grateful for the way they’re trying to help us. What I would say to them is, please try to help us in the next game.”
