Details Leak on New Quentin Tarantino and Sylvester Stallone Project: What We Know So Far
Sylvester Stallone already has numerous iconic roles under his belt ever since he debuted as Rocky Balboa in sports drama film Rocky in 1976, including appearances inThe Expendables, the Rambo films, Samaritan, Creed, Tulsa King, and more. Now, the celeb is teaming up with filmmaker and actor Quentin Tarantino for a brand-new project.
Here’s everything we know so far.
Tarantino and Stallone Team up to Work on a 1930s-Inspired Series
Stallone will co-direct a 1930s-inspired series, according to TMZ. The outlet reports that the six-part series will completely embody that time period—in all aspects. The project will reportedly be filmed in black and white, even using cameras from the 1930s.
TMZ reports the project will feature boxing elements—Rocky throwback anyone?—along with gangsters, showgirls, and period music. It’s unknown if the cast has been chosen yet and what the title will be, but TMZ says Stallone will take on a role behind the camera rather than starring in a leading role.
This isn’t the first time the two directors have worked on pieces set during that era. Tarantino directed comedy/war film Inglourious Basterds, which was partially set in 1939. In addition, Stallone channeled real-life mob enforcer Frank Nitti in Capone, which took place in the early 1930s.
While Tarantino has famously promised that he will only release 10 films in his career, the rule seemingly does not apply to television series, stage plays, and other projects, allowing him to continue his artistic output while adhering to his rule.
Have Tarantino and Stallone Worked Together Before?
Although the two Hollywood heavyweights previously worked together in Sly, the 2023 Netflix documentary, which highlighted Stallone’s impressive career, the Rocky star actually turned down two roles for Tarantino films, Jackie Brown and Grindhouse, according to Macleans.
When asked about turning down a Tarantino film, Stallone told Macleans, “Yeah, two. The De Niro part in Jackie Brown. And Grindhouse, the part Kurt Russell did—I said, ‘There’s no way. I have two daughters, and this fellow, his hobby is putting teenagers in his car and smashing them into a wall. That’s not going to work.’”

In the meantime, fans are anxiously waiting for Dwight to return in the next season of Tulsa King. Season 3 wrapped up on Sunday, November 23, 2025—and filming for Season 4 commenced the end of that month. While the premiere date has not yet been announced for the next season, fall 2026 is likely, according to TV Insider.
When sharing with the outlet what’s to come next in the fan-favorite series, Stallone said, “Do we have new characters in [Season] 4? Oh, yes. You bet.”
The actor also gave some insight into an action plot involving in Season 3, noting it will continue into the next season.
“You’ll come across him in this season, but it’s a matter of, he has to just eventually, eventually throw down and say, ‘I know you’re going to try to kill me. So we’re going to try to work this out, or one of us has got to go.’ That’s the theme, and it starts to play out through all 10 episodes. It continues into the next season,” Stallone told TV Insider.
