Match Preview: Airdrieonians
William Hill Championship
Raith Rovers vs Airdrieonians
Saturday, 21st March 2026
3pm
Stark’s Park, Kirkcaldy
Raith Rovers are finally back in action in Kirkcaldy this weekend, as they welcome Airdrieonians to Stark’s Park, and the game could barely be bigger.
The Diamonds are currently ninth in the Championship table, ahead of Ross County on goal difference, but only three points behind Dougie Imrie’s side who currently sit seventh, albeit having played a game fewer.
Aaron Taylor-Sinclair’s side have only won one of their last seven games in all competitions, a 3-1 win over nine-man Morton last month, but they have won plaudits for their performances if not their results, and will be hoping they can drag themselves out of the relegation places this weekend.
One of those recent defeats they suffered was against Raith Rovers in the semi-final of the KDM Evolution Trophy, when Dylan Easton’s opener was cancelled out by a late Jake Hastie equaliser, although Rovers did prevail on penalties.
Tight games have become the norm between these two teams, with draws or single goal victories the outcomes which generally dominate the fixture.
Indeed, 16 of the last 18 meetings between the two have either ended up a draw or one of the teams winning 1-0, with the only two not to follow that trend being Airdrie’s 3-1 win at Stark’s Park in 2024, and their 3-0 win in the Langtoun earlier this season.
The last time Raith managed to register a victory over Airdrie by more than a single goal was back in December 2018, when Kevin Nisbet and Liam Buchanan were the scorers in a 2-0 win
Saturday’s match referee will be Chris Graham.
