'Dune 3' Cast Updates: Every Actor Returning, Joining, & Not Coming Back Revealed

The Dune: Part Three trailer debuted this week, so it’s time to talk about all of the cast changes.

Back in 2024, director Denis Villeneuve shared details about adapting the book Dune: Messiah into the final movie in the franchise.

“I’m in the writing zone right now,” he told Deadline in an October 2024 interview, adding that the next movie will be completely different than the first two films.

“I think it’ll be a great idea to do something completely different. The story takes place like 12 years after where we left the characters at the end of Part Two. Their journey, their story is different this time, and that’s why I always say that while it’s the same world it’s a new film with new circumstances,” Denis said.

While there are more books in the Dune series following Dune: Messiah, Denis says the upcoming third movie “will finish the Paul Atreides arc.”

Denis also confirmed four actors “have to return. They are with the main cast when it happens. And more worms. What can I say?”
