On the reunion and who initiated the comeback…
Kimberly “To have experienced so much life and get to come together now is so special and we just have such a little bond that we’re building, and you know, protecting our peace and getting ready to go out there and do what we love and to be able to be on stage with these women owning our space, owning our power is going to be something special.”
Ashley: “Social media, we didn’t have back then, you know, and it’s wild to see stuff in real time when you’re like, ‘Oh wow.’ They’re responding. They’re doing choreography to the new track, you know, and it’s exciting to see, and then we were also in Times Square and we were like, ‘Oh my god.’ It’s like we were like little kids again to see ourselves up there. Like you said, the energy feels good. We’re coming together as one and we’re just excited.”
Nicole: I’m the one to blame…it’s just, you know, I really felt so blessed to be able to live out one of my dreams on the West End and Broadway and this is another one of my dreams, and you know, we were supposed to go out in 2019 and COVID happened and the fans have been so good to us and we’re like, ‘I think it’s time.’ We’re celebrating over 20 years of our music since ‘Don’t Cha’ and PCD came out, so it was just the timing of everything.
On the possibility of new music and the upcoming PCD Forever Tour…
Nicole: “Well, we’re really stoked about ‘Club Song,’ our new single. Living in that moment right now. We’re always working on new music. It’s such a different time now, right, like how people release things, so you just got to pay attention because you never know what’s going to be next.”
Kimberly: “I remember chatting with Nicole. We were on the phone for about two and a half hours thinking about just how much purpose we can bring to this tour, the ideas, how we can make it different, be progressive, but also, of course, we’ve got that iconic choreography to lean into all that incredible music. This feels like a real opportunity to take that stage again all these years later.
Ashley: And we’re women now.
Nicole: “Yeah. However, I never really needed to stretch back in the day. Now I need about an hour or two to stretch.”
Ashley: “We’re going to do warm-ups before, and also, we’re women now, and I’m excited to be in this woman body and go back on stage again and give it a little, you know, little shimmy shake.”
