‘Come and enjoy lunch’: Ministry announces plan to feed DHS workers left without pay

The Department of Homeland Security has been left unfunded for weeks now, by extremist demands from Democrats who essentially want to gut President Donald Trump’s plans to enforce border and immigration laws and deport illegal alien criminals present in America.

Senate Democrats, led by Sen. Chuck Schumer, repeatedly have blocked GOP bills to fund government operations, including the Transportation Security Administration, Coast Guard Federal Emergency Management Agency and Secret Service.

Democrats are demanding, for border agents, a requirement for judicial warrants, which effectively would block the national law enforcement campaign. The leftists also want to bar agents from using masks and forcing them to identify themselves, to wear body cameras, to abide by a new limits on use of force and end roving patrols.

Many workers continue to perform their duties without pay.

And without the funds, sometimes, for groceries.

So two related Christian ministries are stepping up.

Franklin Graham, chief of the Samaritan’s Purse worldwide Christian ministry, said his organization will start giving free lunches to federal employees hurt by the Democrats’ policies.

As will the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, for which Graham is an officer.

He confirmed, on social media, “Beginning tomorrow, March 19, Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association will be providing free lunches to federal employees impacted by the partial government shutdown at two locations in Charlotte and Greensboro, NC.”

He said, “I’m grateful for the federal workers who dedicate themselves to working in these important roles. We want to serve them and let them know that we care as they go through this challenging time. If you’re an affected federal employee, we invite you to come and enjoy lunch—every day, 11-3 at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte or at the Samaritan’s Purse Airlift Response Center in Greensboro, NC. President Donald Trump has accused the Democrats of being “totally unreasonable.”

“The Democrats’ purposeful DHS SHUTDOWN is causing chaos at the airports. These Lunatics are being totally unreasonable in their Radical Left asks,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Wednesday.

“They are FULLY TO BLAME, and must pay a big price, for the good of our country, in the midterm elections,” Trump added.

A report at the Daily Signal said, “Democrats have continued to demand that funding for the agency be dependent upon major immigration enforcement reforms. Republicans refuse to agree to many of the Democrats’ demands, such as requiring immigration agents to unmask themselves while conducting enforcement operations.

A month into the DHS shutdown, negotiators remain “far apart,” according to a senior White House official.”

Trump administration officials have submitted multiple suggestions to the Democrats, including a recent plan that was “reasonable” and “serious,” the White House said, without success.
