Demi Lovato Finally Opens Up About Singing ‘Heart Attack’ At An Event For The American Heart Association: ‘I Flagged It!’
Demi Lovato needs you to know one thing and one thing only: It was not her idea to sing ‘Heart Attack’ during an event for The American Heart Association.
In 2024, Lovato went viral for the performance, which was part of a 10-song set for the Women Red Dress Collection to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease. It was ironic enough to have the Internet wondering why she would choose that song in particular to play to play at that particular event.
“I want to say they asked me to sing that, because I flagged it beforehand and was like, ‘Um, isn’t this not the vibe?’” Lovato told Elvis Duran during her appearance on iHeartRadio’s ‘Elvis Duran Show’.
However, Lovato explained that the event coordinators didn’t feel the same way about the song: “They were like, ‘No, they want to hear it.’ I was like, ‘Okay…'”
But just as she predicted, the internet wasn’t so kind. “Then of course, people online were like, ‘Why did she sing that?’” she continued. “Y’all, it wasn’t me! I flagged it!”
Still, you have to admit, it was a rather funny coincidence that has now turned into a rather funny story. Years later, it’s still following Demi Lovato—but at least now we have the full story.
