NCIS just delivered a major twist, but is the long-running series actually ending for good?

And while the storyline suggests the end of NCIS as we know it, the show itself is not going anywhere.
CBS officially renewed NCIS for Season 24 back in January of this year, meaning the series will continue into the 2026-2027 TV season.
The shutdown appears to be a major plot development rather than an actual cancellation, and it will likely play a big role in the upcoming episodes, including the show’s milestone 500th episode, set to air next Tuesday (March 24).
Above is a sneak peek of the 500th episode, called “All Good Things.”
Here’s a logline for Season 23, Episode 13: “When the son of a Marine that Gibbs once helped comes to NCIS in desperation, the fractured team reunites off the books; chasing justice without a badge may cost them more than their careers.”
Showrunner Steven D. Binder told TVLine: ”We’re going big. We’re gonna have some really great twists and turns.”
He added that the episode will “change everything about this show in some degree” and will contain ”a lot of fun Easter eggs” for longtime fans.
At this point, it’s unclear how the show will handle the agency’s closure. The storyline could result in a last-minute save, or a major reset for the team moving forward.
