Gwyneth Paltrow Addresses Astronomer Commercial After Coldplay 'Kiss Cam' Exec Speaks Out Against Her
Gwyneth Paltrow has finally responded to the Coldplay “Kiss Cam” incident from last year where former Astronomer HR exec Kristin Cabot was caught in an embrace with then-CEO Andy Byron.
The pair were seen together in the concert’s jumbotron, with Coldplay front man Chris Martin joking that they were either “having an affair, or they’re just very shy. I’m not quite sure.”
After the video went viral, Kristin and Andy resigned from the company and faced intense scrutiny and harassment online.
Notably, Gwyneth, who is the Chris‘ ex-wife, appeared in a tongue-in-cheek Astronomer ad not long after as a “temporary spokesperson.”

Kristin recently sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey for her podcast and Oprah revealed that she had been in touch with Gwyneth, and while not an official statement, she let Kristin know what the Oscar-winning actress had to say.
According to Oprah, Gwyneth says she was told that Kristin and Andy “had signed off on that commercial, and she said she wouldn’t have done it if she hadn’t heard” that they had agreed to it.
“She communicated that to me as well,” Kristin said in response.
Additionally, Oprah mentions that Gwyneth sent Kristin an email, “and that she hadn’t heard back from the email.”
Kristin did not really address the alleged email, but thanked Oprah for conveying the message.
From there, Oprah asked if she believed the commercial added fuel to the fire.
“Absolutely, I mean it made everything in that moment and for you know ensuing days or weeks, it made everything harder. It made it a lot harder for my kids, too,” Kristin said. “I think when a celebrity gets involved like that, they’re teenagers, like I said, they know who she is. It added to it in a way that was so unnecessary.”
The conversation about Gwyneth and her response is cued up in the video below.
This is not the first time Kristin has criticized Gwyneth over her decision to do the commercial.
“I was such a fan of her company, which seemed to be about uplifting women,” she told The Times in December. “And then she did this. I thought, ‘How dare she after the beating she got for all the conscious uncoupling stuff.’ What a hypocrite.”
Kristin also revealed where things stand now between her and Andy.
