Razorbacks Run-Rule UCA, 10-2 in Five Innings

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Behind 4.1 innings of shutout relief from senior Reis Beuerlein and a two-hit performance from freshman Brinli Bain, the No. 9/10 Arkansas Razorbacks defeated Central Arkansas, 10-2 in five innings on Tuesday afternoon during Field Trip Day at Bogle Park.

With the victory, Arkansas improved to 24-4 overall while the Razorbacks registered their 16th run-rule win of the season. The Hogs’ 16 run-rule victories are tied for the second-most in a single season in program history, trailing only the 2025 squad’s program record 23, while being tied with the 2014 team (16).

Central Arkansas got out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning courtesy of a hit, an error, and three walks. Arkansas added a run back in the bottom of the second before later taking the lead for good in the third inning by plating six runs on four hits, a walk and two errors. Atalyia Rijo, Kennedy Miller and Karlie Davison all collected RBI singles during the six-run frame. Arkansas would then plate the final three runs of the contest in the bottom of the fourth courtesy of a two-run single from Dakota Kennedy and a sacrifice fly from Miller.

Beuerlein was phenomenal in relief while earning her first victory of the season. The Cave Creek, Ariz., product entered the game in a bases-loaded situation with two outs in the top of the first inning before issuing a massive 5-3 groundout to escape the frame. Beuerlein would then cruise the rest of the way by striking out two and allowing just three hits and no walks during her 4.1 scoreless innings of work.

Bain led the Hogs at the plate by going 2-2 with a run scored and a walk. Dakota Kennedy (1-2, R, BB, 2 RBI) and Kennedy Miller (1-2, 2 RBI, SF) also highlighted the Arkansas offense.

Central Arkansas fell to 19-11 with the loss. Emory Bowlin (4-4) took the loss for UCA despite allowing five unearned runs on four hits and a walk in her one inning of action.

How it Happened

Saylor Timmerman got the start for Arkansas, while Central Arkansas went with right-hander Lucy Crowder.

Central Arkansas’ Renee Christian singled to left field to start the contest before coming around to score on a groundout RBI from Emma Robertson with two outs in the inning to give UCA the early lead. Following a pair of walks to load the bases, Central Arkansas added another run courtesy of a fielding error, increasing the Bears’ lead to 2-0. After the error, Reis Beuerlein entered the circle in place of Timmerman and issued a groundout to end the inning.

Reagan Johnson would lead off the bottom of the first inning with an infield single to shortstop and then advanced to second base on a single to right field from Brinli Bain. Arkansas later loaded the bases courtesy of an Ella McDowell walk before Tianna Bell grounded into a double play a batter later to plate a run and cut the Bears’ lead to one.

Beuerlein spun a scoreless bottom of the second inning while picking up a strikeout and allowing just one hit, a double to Addie Graham. Crowder would toss a scoreless frame for Central Arkansas in the bottom of the second inning while facing the minimum. Kailey Wyckoff led off the frame with a walk before Crowder issued a ground ball double play and a groundout.

In the top of the third inning, Beuerlein retired the Bears in order by way of a popout and consecutive groundouts.

Karlie Davison walked to lead off the bottom of the third and then advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt from Reagan Johnson before moving to third on Bain’s second single of the contest. Ella McDowell grounded into an RBI fielder’s choice to tie the game, which featured a fielding error, allowing Bain to advance safely to second. Two batters later, the Hogs loaded the bases by way of a Dakota Kennedy walk. The Razorbacks followed by plating two more courtesy of a fielding error from Central Arkansas on a ground ball off the bat of Kailey Wyckoff. Arkansas then increased its lead to 7-2, courtesy of RBI singles from Atalyia Rijo, Kennedy Miller, and Karlie Davison. Emory Bowlin entered the circle for Crowder following the leadoff walk to Davison.

In the top of the fourth, Beuerlein fanned the Bears’ Grace Molitor to open the frame before issuing a popout followed by consecutive singles from Autumn Vessier and Renee Christian. Following the singles, she registered an inning-ending flyout to Dakota Kennedy in left field.

Bain led off the home half of the fourth with a walk. McDowell followed with a bloop single that landed right on the left-field line before Tianna Bell walked to load the bases. Dakota Kennedy followed with a two-run single up the middle, increasing the Arkansas lead to 9-2. Kennedy Miller later added the 10th and final run of the contest with a lineout sacrifice fly to center field that allowed Ava Carter to score from third. Carter entered the contest as a pinch runner for Bell after her walk earlier in the inning.

Beurlein would complete her victory and finalize the run-rule with a 1-2-3 top of the fifth inning that featured a flyout, popout, and groundout.
