Tom Holland Sets Off Internet Scavenger Hunt for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Trailer
Marvel fans are being pulled into the action.
Instead of a typical trailer release, Tom Holland just kicked off a global scavenger hunt to unveil the official teaser for Spider-Man: Brand New Day--and the internet is already racing to piece it together.
A Trailer Reveal Like We’ve Never Seen Before
Holland took to Instagram on Tuesday with a cryptic tease that immediately grabbed the attention of MCU fans. Rather than dropping the trailer outright, he hinted at something much bigger.
"We are doing something that has never been done before," he said, adding that "some of our greatest fans are going to help us release pieces of" the trailer.
That promise quickly turned into a worldwide fan-driven rollout.
Fans Across The Globe Are Dropping Hidden Clips
The first clue? A fan account in Peru—tagged directly by Holland—shared a super-quick, two-second clip. The footage shows Spider-Man swinging through the air while holding someone, recreating the iconic cover from the character’s 1962 comic debut.
Next, a fan in Ohio posted another clip showing Peter Parker, out of costume, collapsing.
A creator in Mexico City followed with Spider-Man sprinting while pulling on his mask.
The chain continued with a fan in Las Vegas, who showed a short clip of Spider-Man involved in a heated brawl.
So far, the clips don’t clearly connect, leaving fans scrambling to decode the order—and meaning—behind each moment.
When Will the Full Trailer Drop?
While details remain intentionally vague, Holland hinted the payoff is coming soon.
"I will see you tomorrow morning, bright and early, in New York City," he said.
That strongly suggests the full trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day will finally arrive on Wednesday morning after all the puzzle pieces are revealed.
Marvel’s Marketing Is Getting More Unique
This isn’t the first time Marvel Studios has experimented with unconventional rollouts, but this might be its most interactive yet.
Back in December, the studio teased Avengers: Doomsday in an unusual way, releasing four different trailers exclusively in theaters during screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. Each trailer focused on different characters and dropped weekly, forcing eager fans into theaters if they wanted early access.
Even the cast reveal for Doomsday turned heads. Instead of a standard announcement, Marvel streamed a slow-moving shot of director’s chairs displaying actor names—stretching the reveal across more than five hours.
Notably, Holland’s name was missing from that lineup, despite Spider-Man’s major role in previous Avengers films.
Why ‘Brand New Day’ Is Such a Big Deal
Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks Peter Parker’s long-awaited return after five years away from the big screen.
Fans last saw him in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the massive blockbuster that united Holland with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. The film became one of the highest-grossing movies ever and ended with a heartbreaking twist.
Now that the entire world has forgotten Peter Parker existed--including MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon)--the stage is set for a completely fresh chapter.
New Faces, Big Theories
Returning stars Zendaya and Batalon will reprise their roles, while new additions include Tramell Tillman and Sadie Sink.
Sink’s role, in particular, has sparked intense speculation—but neither Marvel nor the Stranger Things star has revealed any details.
Meanwhile, Jon Bernthal is set to return as the Punisher, and Mark Ruffalo will once again appear as the Hulk, raising the stakes even higher.
