Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham are ‘unlikely’ to get their top managerial target
Fabrizio Romano has provided some bad news for Tottenham Hotspur in their quest to appoint a new head coach if Igor Tudor is eventually sacked.
Over the last few days, it has been widely reported that Tottenham are actively looking for a replacement for Igor Tudor after the Croat failed to have the expected impact since replacing Thomas Frank last month.
In fact, before the Liverpool game, it was even claimed that the only reason Tudor was still in the job was that Spurs had not found an obvious replacement, with multiple managers not being keen on occupying the N17 hotseat.
The decision on Tudor’s replacement is expected to rest with Vinai Venkatesham and Johan Lange, as they attempt to arrest the club’s slide to relegation. A lot of that decision will surely be made by Tottenham’s result against Nottingham Forest this weekend.
Roberto De Zerbi deal is a ‘difficult’ one to do for Tottenham
Reports have indicated over recent weeks that Roberto De Zerbi is Tottenham’s dream target, and this has now been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian backed up what we have heard from other sources over recent days by stating that Spurs are in the process of identifying a successor to Tudor.
Romano reveals that De Zerbi has been Tottenham’s ‘top target’ for several months, but the deal is seen as ‘unlikely’ at this point.
The journalist wrote on X: “Tottenham remain in process to change manager again with Igor Tudor at serious risk. Roberto De Zerbi has been a top target for months, but difficult deal, seen as unlikely. Spurs are considering also more managers in order to make decision soon, waiting for next games.”
Will Spurs turn to Sean Dyche if needed?
Over the past few days, some outlets have claimed that Spurs view Sean Dyche as the ideal candidate to motivate their squad and get a response from the players.
It has been claimed by TEAMtalk that the former Burnley boss would be ready to take up the challenge of helping Tottenham avoid relegation.
However, the same update revealed that the Lilywhites are yet to contact Dyche, who was sacked by their relegation rivals, Nottingham Forest, last month.
Either way, Tudor has earned himself a little more time following the draw away at Anfield.
