NEW: National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent Resigns Over Iran War, Blames Israel and Its “Powerful American Lobby” for Conflict
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has lost one of her key deputies thanks to the ongoing war in Iran.
Joe Kent, Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, announced his resignation effective today.
Kent stated in his resignation letter that Iran posed no imminent threat to America and asserted we started the war because of “pressure from Israel” and its “powerful American lobby.”
He ended the letter by saying it was an honor serving Trump and Gabbard.
After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.
I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.
It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.
May God bless America.

Here is the full letter:
As TGP readers know, Kent is a former US Special Operations soldier who spent two decades serving our nation in the military and intelligence service.
He is considered a staunch noninterventionist, skeptical of foreign entanglements.
His America-first, noninterventionist worldview was shaped in large part following the death of his wife Shannon Kent in Syria in 2019.
Shannon Kent, a United States Navy cryptologic technician, was killed in the 2019 Manbij bombing on January 16, 2019.
