Barboza Wins Welterweight Debut in GBP Main Event from Anaheim

Arnold Barboza produced a successful ascent to the welterweight division with a solid outing against Kenneth Sims in the main event of a DAZN fight card from Anaheim, California.
Barboza, (33-1, 11 KOs) from nearby South El Monte, is now back in the win column after a near shut out over Sims by the scores of 120-108, 118-110 and 117-111.
Golden Boy Promotions, who have regularly brought boxing to the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, presented the night of boxing.
“That was a tough fight. I went through a little bit of a dark moment there, but I pushed through it. People were asking me before the fight, saying I had fallen off or that I wasn’t the same fighter anymore. But tonight I showed that I’m still here,” said Barboza, who was coming off a May 2025 decision loss at light welterweight to Teofimo Lopez in New York.
WBA, WBO and Ring Magazine Minimumweight World Champion Oscar Collazo (13-0, 10 KOs) had his hand raised in victory in his defense against Jesus Haro in the nights co-main attraction after six rounds via corner stoppage as Team Haro brought a halt to the bout.
Gabriela Fondura, (18-0, 10 KOs) successfully defended her undisputed status as IBF, WBA, WBC, WBO and Ring Magazine Flyweight World Champion in a fight against Viviana Ruiz Corredor, dropping and eventually stopping Ruiz in round six.
Santa Ana native Alexis Rocha outpointed South El Monte’s Jo Jo Diaz after ten rounds at 97-93, 98-92 and 100-90 which served as the nights most action packed affair.
Joel Iriarte (10-0, 9 KOs) notched another knockout win in his welterweight contest with Rock Myrthil, Grant Flores remained undefeated with his KO over Rashid Stevens to move to 13-0 9KO, and rising prospect and Joel Diaz trained fighter Cayden Griffiths needed less than three minutes to dispatch Omar Munguia on the night’s undercard as Griffiths punched his way to 8-0 7KO.
