Conan O'Brien is Welcome to Be the Oscar's Host 'For Life'
Conan O’Brien really could be the Oscar host “for life” as was mentioned as a joke during the 2026 ceremony, which would at least mean he won’t be replaced by AI! (At one point during the evening he joked that next year, the host will be “a Waymo in a tux.”)
Sunday’s (March 15) Oscars marked his second year in a row hosting and it sounds like Disney is happy with his performance.

Disney’s Rob Mills, the executive VP in charge of the Oscars telecast told Variety on Monday, “Oh, that is no joke, Conan is host for life, yes. He hasn’t even accepted yet. He’s just being told. We’re assuming that was not a comedy bit. We’re going to treat that as if that was fact.”
Well, to be fair, ABC only contractually has the Oscars for two more years, but it sounds like they’d be glad to have Conan back for them. After that, the prestigious awards ceremony will be moving to YouTube.
