According to Billboard, medics immediately rushed onstage to assess the situation and get Riley cleaned up, but he was unwilling to let the show get derailed over the moment. The person who threw the phone was immediately escorted out of the venue.
During the commotion, the “There Was This Girl” singer joked, “Y’all see how tough I am?”
He also shared some mentions to the incident on his Instagram, including a photo carousel with several photos showing the visible blood running from his ear.
On Sunday, via his Instagram Stories, Riley revealed that he actually had to get five stitches.
“5 stitches later…sewed up,” he wrote along with a close-up photo of his injury.
This is just the latest in many incidents regarding fans throwing things onstage. Bebe Rexha notable had to get stitches after an incident in 2023 and last year, Luke Bryan spoke out after getting hit in the face with a plush ball.
