Pakistan Carries Out Fresh Heavy Airstrikes on Kabul, Afghanistan
Pakistan launched heavy bombardment targeting Afghanistan’s capital Kabul again, according to Taliban officials and residents reporting multiple explosions across the city.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the strikes, saying a drug rehabilitation hospital was hit and several civilians were killed.
Videos shared by residents showed large explosions and fires in several parts of Kabul, with witnesses saying the force of the blasts shook the city.
Sources also reported that Pakistani aircraft bombed a Taliban military facility in Ghani Khel district of Nangarhar province late Monday evening.
Earlier, Taliban forces reportedly launched drone attacks targeting areas inside Pakistan, escalating tensions and triggering retaliatory strikes across the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari condemned what he called Taliban drone attacks on civilian areas inside Pakistan, saying Afghan Taliban crossed a “red line.”
Cross-border clashes between Pakistan and Taliban forces have intensified in recent weeks, causing rising civilian casualties along both sides of the frontier.
China has attempted to mediate between Islamabad and Kabul authorities, but Pakistan has reportedly rejected Beijing’s mediation efforts.
The latest bombardment underscores rapidly deteriorating relations between Pakistan and the Taliban administration as both sides trade accusations over security.
