Re: Shots on goal
Angelsey BlueSnoopI think there are two issues.
We, for the most part, move the ball too slowly coming out of defence to catch teams over stretched.
When we have worked down the pitch, we're too cautious in how we move it around - we pass it nicely around the other team's box but most of the team prefer the safe pass to retain the ball rather than trying to pick out someone running through.
I think both are about what CD keeps saying - we're not brave enough with the ball. It is very late in the season for him to have still not fixed it on a consistent basis, though we do go through periods of doing it and they have given us our best performances.
Ducksch and Roberts, as well as Gray pre-lay off, all do it - Ducksch in particular. Based on the reports about him, presumably this was part of the reason for Vicente as well, someone who wants the ball early and plays it early. Clearly the coaches know the problem, just not how to fix it.
We seem to end up with the ball at the winger's feet in the inside channel of either wing with a set defence and no movement in the box.
Fair point we do also not commit enough to the box which really doesn't help when we then have too few bodies in there and not enough movement. But even when there is movement too often the pass is the safe one back around the edge of the box, rather than the risky one to pick out runner.
