Eight arrested in overnight police operations
Police arrested eight people overnight during coordinated patrols across urban areas aimed at preventing crime and boosting public safety.
The arrests were linked to offences including burglary and theft, illegal possession of property and illegal stay in the Republic.
During the operations, officers stopped 436 vehicles and checked 585 individuals. Police also carried out 42 inspections of premises, resulting in five complaints related to various offences.
Traffic checks led to 127 complaints for road violations.
One driver tested positive in a preliminary drug test, while two drivers tested positive for alcohol during 139 breathalyser tests.
Police also seized four vehicles as part of the checks.
Similar operations will continue daily with increased patrols, targeted inspections and rapid response measures aimed at preventing crime and maintaining public order, authorities said.
