Music from the big screen to be performed live
Cinematic music, popular soundtracks and young musicians are coming together this spring to present a joyous concert in Nicosia.
The Symphony Orchestra and the Mixed Choir of the Nicosia Music School will present an exciting programme on April 23 at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre, highlighting Europe’s central role in the global cultural landscape.
Yet it is not just European musical traditions that will shine at the Music From the Big Screen: From Europe to the World concert but Greek compositions as well connected with the global cinematic creation.
The first part of the concert’s programme is dedicated to iconic symphonic compositions from European and international cinema.
The second part includes Greek and European songs from films, highlighting the shared values and cultural references that shape the European artistic identity.
Held under the auspices of the Minister of Education, Sport and Youth, Dr Athena Michaelidou, the concert is also part of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
On-stage musicians will be directed by Dr Christos Stavrinidis, while the choir will be conducted by Glykeria Andreou, joined by two guest performers Andreas Elesnitsalis and Elli Koutsouli.
Sounds from near and far that dominated big screens around the world will soon sound in Nicosia and ticket sales are already live on the SoldOut website. Plus, the evening welcomes audience members as young as seven years old.
