CPS investigating Taft High School employee’s ‘inappropriate’ interactions with students
The Chicago Public Schools’ inspector general’s office has launched an investigation into an employee at a Norwood Park neighborhood high school.
A staff member at William Howard Taft High School, 6530 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., has been accused of engaging “inappropriately with students,” according to a notice obtained by the Sun-Times. Taft Principal Ryan Glowacz sent the notice to students’ families Wednesday afternoon.
The employee has been removed from the school while the CPS inspector general’s office investigates, the notice said.
A final determination whether to reinstate the staff member will be made based on information learned during the investigation, Glowacz said.
“Please know that we are taking this situation seriously, and we remain committed to providing your children with a safe, positive learning environment where they can reach their full potential,” Glowacz said. “While I am unable to discuss details regarding the investigation, I am always available to discuss steps the district takes to keep students safe and matters related to your child.”
