Murray: A Draw Was The Fair Result
Hibs Women Head Coach Joelle Murray insists that a score draw with Celtic was the correct outcome as she spoke of her pride in the Hibees' reaction to going behind at New Douglas Park.
Amy Gallacher put the home team ahead after 22 minutes, but Hibs fought back to secure a 1-1 draw through Eilidh Adams' first-half strike to take a point back to Leith.
Speaking to Hibs TV after our first post-split fixture, Murray was pleased despite looking for a greater clinical edge in front of goal.
“I think probably across the 90 it was a fair result," the Head Coach said. "I think we started OK, we had a small dip in the first half when Celtic got the goal, which gave them a little bit of momentum.
“But I’m so proud of the way the girls reacted to end the half in the manner they did and then pick up where they left off to take that into the second half, so yes, probably a fair result.
“For us, we're looking for them to turn the opportunities that we had into goals, so that's probably the message going forward."
With a home match against Rangers on Wednesday evening leading into an Edinburgh Derby battle at Oriam next Sunday, the Hibees have a busy - and crucial - week ahead.
While only 13 players were utilised in Hamilton, Murray stresses the importance of every player in her 'healthy' squad who will play a part over the final stretch of the season.
“The squad is extremely healthy, it's probably the healthiest it's been for a long, long time.
"There'll be a lot of disappointed players on the bench that didn't come on to the pitch. But we were trusting the players on the pitch, we didn't feel like there was a lot to change.
"The changes we made, we were looking to freshen things up from players that looked a little bit fatigued.
“I think the pleasing thing is we had a lot of options on the bench to come on and unfortunately for those players today, we didn't feel like we needed to use many more than the two we did."
