Is Benjamin Netanyahu Alive or Dead? Viral Rumours and ‘Six Fingers’ Video Explained

Viral posts on social media have claimed that Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, has died amid the ongoing conflict involving Israel, the United States and Iran. The rumours spread widely online, with some users suggesting that the Israeli leader had been killed or disappeared during the crisis.

The speculation intensified after screenshots circulated online claiming to show a message from Netanyahu’s official account announcing his death. Many social media users said the message was later deleted, which fueled further rumours about the Israeli leader’s fate.

Conservative podcaster Candace Owens reacted after the office of Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, denied viral social media claims that he had died.

Owens was among many social media users who questioned Netanyahu’s whereabouts after unverified posts claimed he had been killed in an Iranian strike.

After the clarification from Benjamin Netanyahu’s office began circulating online, Candace Owens shared one of the posts discussing the claim. The post read: “The Israeli PM’s office says the assassination in the Iranian strike is fake news. They told this to Anadolu Agency, but they failed to present Bibi’s recent location, a video, or anything else.”

It added “We can wait until Bibi comes out and tells us he is alive and well. That of course if he is alive and well. Iran also claimed their leader was alive and while he was dead. So we prefer proof.”

Sharing it, Owens penned her own thoughts and wrote “I don’t know that Bibi is dead.” She continued, “but it is very evident there is real panic at the White House and this war is not going as planned.” Owens went on to add “And with the way Trump casually lied about bombing the school girls, it’s hard to trust anything coming from this admin.”

However, fact-checking investigations later determined that the screenshots were fabricated. Officials and analysts confirmed that no such message had ever been posted on Netanyahu’s official accounts and that the viral claims were misleading.

Another claim that gained attention involved a video showing Netanyahu addressing the nation during a press conference. Some users suggested the footage had been generated using artificial intelligence after pointing to what appeared to be six fingers on one of his hands.

Meanwhile, there was no evidence indicating that the video of Benjamin Netanyahu involved any AI manipulation. While Yair Netanyahu’s silence was interpreted by some as having deeper meaning, the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that Netanyahu was safe and well.

Misinformation often spreads rapidly during times of international conflict when audiences are searching for fast updates about political leaders and military developments. Analysts say edited images and misleading clips frequently circulate online during such crises.

The rumours also appeared alongside the wider confrontation involving Israel, Iran and the United States, which has triggered intense online propaganda and misinformation campaigns from multiple sides of the geopolitical conflict.

There is currently no credible evidence suggesting that Netanyahu has died. Fact-checkers say the viral claims about his death and the so-called “six-finger” video are false and based on manipulated or misunderstood content circulating on social media.
