Ryan Kiera Armstrong Reacts to 'Buffy' Revival Cancelation, Thanks Fans For Support
Ryan Kiera Armstrong is speaking out following news that Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale has been canceled.
The 16-year-old actress was set to star as the new vampire slayer, taking on the mantle from Sarah Michelle Gellar.
However, it was announced by Sarah on Saturday (March 14) that the revival series is not moving forward at Hulu after filming a pilot, which was directed by filmmaker Chloe Zhao.

“I’m sure many of you have already heard the news by now. I wanted to come on here and say thank you for all the support you guys have given me and the show throughout the past couple months. It’s been really special. I’m really proud of what we did. I’m sad that you guys won’t be able to see it, but it doesn’t take away from the amazing experience that I had,” Ryan said in a video message on her Instagram story.
“I wanna say thank you to Sarah, the Zuckerman sisters, Chloe. I love you guys. I also wanna say thank you to all the fans and all the people that believed in this new chapter and who believed in me. So, thank you guys. Thank you to the cast that I worked with, you guys are awesome,” she continued.
“I guess all I want to say is, you know, we brought this back for you guys and, you know, Buffy is such a big part of all of our lives, and it’s not going anywhere. So, who knows what the future will hold,” the young actress concluded.
Ryan also shared a photo of her in costume as her character, captioning the post, “???? your slayer”
