Serena Williams Claps Back at Latest Controversy With Green Swimsuit Photo: ‘I’m Perfectly Me'
Serena Williams has been under fire for promoting a GLP-1 medication for almost a year, and her latest photo is a subtle clap back to it all.
Earlier this week, Williams shared a series of photos of her summer body on her Instagram. She shared the photos on her Instagram with the caption reading, “I am not perfect….but I’m perfectly me. Take out time today to celebrate being perfectly you! ????”
In the photos, we can see Williams in an olive-green swimsuit, which she paired with UGG boots and a fuzzy pink jacket. We see her dancing around her lavish backyard, showing off her slimmer frame, and it’s still bothering fans.
One fan wrote, “Serena, you showed the world what a strong, healthy woman warrior looks like and helped so many women feel proud of powerful bodies. I miss that era because it meant so much to so many of us. Seeing you promote injectable drugs to look slimmer is honestly sad to me.”
Another wrote, “I’m a little alarmed that Serena is promoting injectable weight loss medication.”
However, just as many fans love this clapback photo, saying things like “Wow!!!” and “Hooot.”

For those who don’t know, Williams first told People in Aug 2025 that she used a GLP-1 medication to help lose pregnancy pounds, saying, “I was never able to get to the weight I needed to be, no matter what I did, no matter how much I trained. “It was crazy because I’d never been in a place like that in my life where I worked so hard, ate so healthy and could never get down to where I needed to be at.”
She added, “I had never taken shortcuts in my career and always worked really hard. I know what it takes to be the best. So it was very frustrating to do all the same things and never be able to change that number on the scale or the way my body looked.”
Williams then doubled down on backing the product with a Super Bowl commercial.
