Suspected gunman arrested after he flees through middle of PGA event
A suspect gunman has been arrested after he fled through the middle of a PGA Tour event in Florida following a shooting in a drug store parking lot that left two dead.
The suspect, identified as Christian Barrios, 32, is suspected of the shooting at the parking lot adjacent to the Players Championship event at the TPC Sawgrass course, through which he allegedly fled.
The golf events are happening in Pente Vedra Beach, Florida, according to a Daily Mail report.
Authorities reported no one at the golf event was hurt, but the third round of play on Saturday was delayed by the threat.
“Barrios allegedly shot two people multiple times at about 10:30 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of Walgreens in what local authorities described as a domestic violence incident,” the report said.
The store is located about a mile from the course and less than 1,000 feet from other PGA Tour properties, the report said.
The victims’ names were not released immediately.
But authorities confirmed Barrios was caught about 8 a.m. in Nassau County, about an hour from the TPC Sawgrass.
Local authorities revealed canine units pursued Barrios onto the TPC Sawgrass after the shooting.
Nassau County authorities pursued the suspect, who was in an allegedly stolen BMW, which crashed. The suspect fled on foot before being caught.
