33 drunk drivers arrested in overnight police operations
Police arrested 33 drivers for drink-driving during overnight operations carried out nationwide on Friday night, as part of coordinated checks targeting traffic offences and public safety.
According to a police statement issued on Saturday, organised patrols were deployed at key points where officers stopped vehicles, checked occupants and carried out inspections of premises.
In total, 916 vehicles were stopped and 1,231 occupants were checked during the operations.
Officers also carried out 38 inspections of premises, which resulted in nine complaints.
Police recorded 492 complaints for various traffic violations, while 341 alcohol tests were carried out.
Ten vehicles were also seized.
Police said the operations were aimed at preventing serious criminal activity and maintaining public order.
