Trump Claims Iran Near ‘Surrender’ in Call With G7 Leaders
Donald Trump reportedly told leaders of the Group of Seven that Iran was close to surrender during a recent phone call, according to a report by Axios.
The report said Trump made the claim on Wednesday during discussions with G7 leaders as the conflict involving the United States and Iran continues to escalate across the region.
However, the report noted that the situation on the ground appears far more complex, with Iran showing no clear indication of surrendering despite ongoing military pressure and regional tensions.
Within 24 hours of Trump’s remarks, Mojtaba Khamenei emphasized that Iran would continue its confrontation with the United States and its regional allies.
G7 leaders reportedly expressed concern about the potential economic consequences of the conflict and urged Trump to seek a rapid end to the war.
They also stressed the importance of protecting global energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes.
Meanwhile, regional tensions increased after an Iran-aligned militia group in Iraq claimed responsibility for downing a US military refueling aircraft.
The United States Central Command confirmed that a KC-135 aircraft crashed in western Iraq, killing four crew members, though the exact cause of the incident remains under investigation.
The developments highlight the fragile security situation in the Middle East, where growing confrontation between the United States, Iran and their allies raises fears of a wider regional conflict.
