Driver Walks Away with Few Injuries After Car Rolls 200 Feet Down Canyon. Photos Reveal Just How Serious It Really Was

A Texas man is miraculously still alive after his car tumbled approximately 200 feet down a canyon.

He managed to escape from the car and walk to safety with what appeared to be relatively few injuries based on the severity of the accident.

On Tuesday (March 10), the Texas State Park Police addressed the incident, which happened in Duro Canyon State Park. They said that park staff responded to reports about an injured man.

When they arrived, they “observed signs of injury, including bleeding and a black eye.” He said that his car “had a flat tire.”

But the car was nowhere to be seen until it was finally found “upside down” and roughly 200 feet down a canyon.

In a news release on Facebook, the State Park Police said that the first notification about the man came around 11:50 a.m. on Monday (March 9).

Less than 20 minutes later, park staff were able to find his car “below the ‘Big Hill’ east of Park Road 5.”

Based on photos, it appeared as though the car had tumbled and rolled down the canyon before finally coming to a rest.

The accident happened the day prior, and somehow the man got himself out of the wreck and to safety.

While speaking to authorities, he said he “had a tire blowout on Park Road 5 after dark on March 8, 2026, causing him to veer off the road and into the canyon.”

He was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital for additional treatment. In addition to the black eye, State Park Police believe that he had suffered “a possible concussion and broken ribs.”

To retrieve his car, “Texas State Park Police, Canyon FD, and Randall Co. FD rescue personnel deployed a high angle ropes system to lower and connect a cable for Canyon/Sierra Towing in order to retrieve the crashed vehicle.”

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
