Snoop Dogg Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Iconic Tupac Collaboration With Limited Edition Wine
In the mid-1990s, Snoop Dogg and Tupac were in the studio when the infamous Suge Knight walked in, grabbed them by the arms, and pulled them in together, demanding they chop it up and collaborate.
Without hesitation, the Long Beach native and the late West Coast legendary rapper got to work and came up with "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted." The diss track, aimed squarely at the Notorious BIG and Puff Daddy, dropped on May 7, 1996. It was the second single from Tupac's fourth studio album, All Eyes On Me.
Like "California Love," "I Ain't Mad At Chat," and "How Do U Want It," Snoop and Tupac's "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" became a timeless hit that instantly defined West Coast hip hop. Tragically, Tupac died that same year when he was shot multiple times in 1996 in a drive-by in Las Vegas.
To this day, Snoop always gives Tupac his roses, giving him countless shoutouts no matter the gig. To celebrate his and Tupac's iconic track, Snoop is commemorating the collaboration with a limited edition wine built around a personal tribute.
Released through his Cali By Snoop collective and Treasury Wine Estates, 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted is a red blend that celebrates the history of two of hip-hop's legendary MCs.
The limited-edition bottle release is accompanied by a moving tribute film in which Snoop reminisces about their experience together through the hard times while celebrating the good times.
The tribute film features archival behind-the-scenes footage from their iconic music video for "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted," which draws inspiration from Al Pacino's 1983 classic Scarface.
"It's hard to believe it's been 30 years since Pac and I got together to make '2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted.' Nobody did it like us, and I can't think of a better way to honor his legacy than with a drink," Snoop Dogg says. "This wine is perfect for celebrating with loved ones, and I'm looking forward to the people pourin' a little out with me for my friend."
According to Cali By Snoop, the limited-edition bottle is a "Petite Sirah-dominant red blend that features notes of toasty oak, dark fruit, toffee, and baking spice."
Michael Garrison, 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted and Treasury Wine Estates Winemaker, describes the wine as well-structured, with supple, integrated tannins that deliver a long, flavorful finish with each sip.
The label design is inspired by a moment etched in hip-hop history from the 1996 VMA Awards, featuring Snoop and Tupac, and includes a tribute to Tupac written by Snoop Dogg.
The bottle retails for $14.99 and is available now at major retailers, including Kroger, Total Wine & More, Instacart, Ralph's, Albertson's, and more.
