Man United vs Aston Villa Combined XI Revealed: Cunha out, Mainoo & Rogers included
Manchester United will host Aston Villa at Old Trafford in the Premier League on March 15.
Third-placed United are currently locked in a tight battle for the top-four positions with fourth-placed Aston Villa, with both sides level on 51 points.
Ahead of this crucial showdown, we take a look at what a combined XI of the two teams could look like based on current form and availability.
Goalkeeper
Senne Lammens
It is incredibly difficult to separate Lammens and Emiliano Martinez, as both goalkeepers have produced remarkably similar numbers in the league this season.
Martinez has prevented 3.93 goals compared to Lammens’ impressive tally of 3.81.
However, the Argentine has committed three errors that have directly led to goals, while Lammens has remained flawless in that department.
For that reason, Lammens earns the nod in our combined XI thanks to the stability and reliability he provides between the sticks.
Defence
Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw
Right-back was another tight call, but Cash narrowly edges out Diogo Dalot due to his superior attacking contributions this season.
Konsa partners Maguire at the heart of the defence, with the Villa centre-back missing just one league match all campaign.
Maguire has emerged as a commanding presence at the back since Michael Carrick took charge at United.
Lucas Digne would normally be a strong contender for the left-back position, but Villa manager Unai Emery has started him in only two of the last six league matches. With that in mind, Luke Shaw gets the nod ahead of Ian Maatsen for the left-back spot.
Midfield
Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes
The midfield is dominated by the Red Devils.
Amadou Onana would normally be a strong contender, but his form has dipped noticeably over the last four league matches.
That slump opens the door for Kobbie Mainoo, who has continued to impress with his composure and maturity in midfield.
Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes are simply undroppable given their outstanding influence.
Attack
Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko, Morgan Rogers
Aston Villa have managed just four goals in their last six league matches, whereas United have scored ten during the same period.
Leon Bailey and Jadon Sancho have struggled, allowing Mbeumo to comfortably secure the right-wing spot.
Rogers has amassed 13 goal contributions this campaign while Cunha has eight to his name.
While both players are capable of operating from the left flank, they are often more dangerous when drifting into central areas.
With Fernandes occupying the attacking midfield role behind the striker, Rogers is deployed on the left wing in this XI.
Sesko is one of the most lethal forwards in 2026 and he takes the number nine spot.
