How Tottenham could line up in Sean Dyche 4-4-2 with Richarlison and Solanke up top
Sean Dyche has been mentioned as a possible option for Tottenham Hotspur, and if the experienced manager were to arrive in north London, his preferred system could bring a very different look to the Spurs side.
Sean Dyche is one of several names that have been linked with a move to Tottenham this season, given the struggles of Igor Tudor.
The former Burnley and Everton boss has built a reputation as someone capable of keeping a struggling team afloat during the course of a season.
That is exactly what Tottenham are in desperate need of as they look to retain their Premier League status this campaign.
But should the 54-year-old make the switch to north London, how could he set his team up? Let us find out.
Tottenham line-up Sean Dyche could use in a 4-4-2 system
We do know that Sean Dyche’s teams are hard to beat and that is down to them being defensively solid.
Spurs could very much benefit from that, given how fragile they have been at the back in recent weeks, conceding a whopping 15 goals in their last four games under Tudor.
Dyche also prefers to set up in a 4-4-2 formation, and that could be ideal for the players he has at his disposal.
We could very much see him go with Guglielmo Vicario in goal, given that he will place little emphasis on building from the back, which is far from the Italian’s strength.
In defence, we can expect a back four comprising Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Kevin Danso and Djed Spence.
Romero’s no-nonsense style could work well under Dyche, and Danso’s reliability could be favoured over Micky van de Ven, who is struggling for form. Romero could take on the Tarkowski role.
In the middle of the park, the former Everton boss could well turn to the energetic Conor Gallagher, while Archie Gray plays alongside him, with both midfielders offering offensive and defensive cover.
Out wide, Mohammed Kudus, who is nearing a return, could be deployed on the right, with Mathys Tel the only wide left option to cover in that spot.
We could then see Richarlison and Dominic Solanke lead the line for Dyche, who often prefers physicality in his attack, as was the case with Chris Wood during his Burnley days.
