A Day at Skydive Perris: What Your Family’s Adventure Actually Looks Like

Picture this: Everyone wakes up early, stoked for the day ahead. You all hop in the car and head to Skydive Perris. You arrive and soak in the hustle and bustle as you hear planes taking off with load after load of skydivers. Sitting down for breakfast at The Bombshelter feels relaxing and exciting. Adventure awaits only steps away!! Before you know it, your flight time approaches, and you head over to the wind tunnel to check in, get briefed, and gear up.

Now … It’s time to fly! Everyone in the family – from toddler to grandma – takes turns soaring in the wind tunnel alongside a professional instructor. You’re in awe as you watch each other bravely shift from a run-of-the-mill homo sapien to a real-life flying human. Squeals of delight, high fives, laughter, selfies, story swapping. It’s unlike anything you’ve done before, and you did it together!! You’re all buzzing.

Feeling worn out but oh so satisfied, you all mosey over our desert oasis to swim in the pool, enjoy some lunch, check out our novelty aircraft, and watch skydivers overhead as they skillfully fly their colorful canopies into the landing area.

Those in the group who are over age 18 can opt into the Adrenal-IN Experience, which means they can go outdoor skydiving on the same day! They get checked in, get briefed, and gear up again – only this time, they head to the aircraft! Everyone watches and cheers, enthralled by their super cool family members on what will go down as one of the best family adventures ever.

Golden hour hits, and it’s time to head out. Everyone feels accomplished, empowered, and happy as you drive away, vowing to return as soon as the almost-adults are old enough to make their first tandem skydive.

Make the day your own! Book morning flights so you can take part in afternoon activities and libations, or flip it and hit the pool in the morning, fly all afternoon, and have dinner at The Bombshelter. There’s no rigid schedule, plan your day to suit everyone’s needs.

What Happens In The Wind Tunnel?

Is indoor skydiving worth it? Absolutely! It’s fun, accessible, inclusive, empowering, and memorable. So much so that indoor skydiving gift certificates are a common present!

Here’s the play-by-play of what happens when someone flies in the indoor skydiving tunnel:

  • Pre-flight briefing
  • Gear up (jumpsuit, helmet, goggles)
  • Meet your instructor
  • Lean into a 120 mph column of air
  • Fly like a rockstar, one-on-one with your instructor
  • Receive your flight certificate

A one-minute flight is equivalent to the time you spend in real freefall when skydiving from 12,500 feet!

Packages That Make Sense For Families

The cost of indoor skydiving can feel high, but when you consider all you’re getting, it’s comparable to other full-family activities. All first-time flyers receive a comprehensive training session, equipment rental, one-on-one guidance and support from a certified instructor, and a personalized flight certificate.

So, how expensive is it to go indoor skydiving? It depends! Here’s a quick breakdown of the cost of flying in the wind tunnel at Skydive Perris:

  • Family Package: $350
2-5 people. 10 flights. Endless fun.

“But Is It Safe?” And Other Questions Every Parent Asks

Indoor skydiving is an extreme activity that, just like skydiving, holds some inherent level of risk. That being said, there are multiple factors present to mitigate risk:

  • Controlled Environment
A vertical wind tunnel provides an enclosed, controlled environment to practice body-flight skills. This controlled environment makes it easy for instructors to maintain control, as well as wind speed operators to decrease or increase the wind speed at the click of a button. If necessary, the in-tunnel instructor is able to signal to the controller that the wind speed should be changed or halted.
  • Certified Instructors
Tunnel instructors are passionate about teaching indoor body flight. They complete extensive training in order to hone in their skills and abilities to instruct others with a safety first mindset.
  • One Flyer at a Time
There will never be a scenario where one instructor is flying with two novice or first-time flyers; one instructor per student, always. This ensures each first-time flyer gets the attention they deserve and keeps safety at the forefront.

The antechamber of the tunnel allows for front-row seat viewing into the wind chamber. And, even if a parent or guardian chooses not to fly, they can watch the experience from just outside the tunnel – and your child can see you, too!
